Obituary

Conchita Montez Tarver-Smith, more affectionately known as “Tez,” was born on May 15, 1975, to the late Mary Jo Harris and the late Michael Ned Tarver in Thomaston, Upson County, Georgia. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a graduate of Upson-Lee High School in Thomaston, Class of 1995. In the meantime in school, she joined the band and is known for playing the flute. In 1995, Conchita proudly joined the military, Army Branch, and served her country until 2000.

During her leisure time, she loved watching football, especially Tom Brady, on both the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. She enjoyed spending time with family and playing all different types of games (Bingo Blitz was her favorite solo game). In 2025, she took her first vacation which was on a cruise to the Bahamas and enjoyed every moment with her fellow military friend, Belinda Barnes. She cherished every moment she spent with her dog, Domino Smith, who she adopted in 2021. She enjoyed watching shows such as: Gilmore Girls, Charmed and Reba.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her “adopted” daughter, Zenia Weaver. On Sunday, January 18, 2026, the Lord said she had suffered enough. He called her name; she answered and went home to be at rest. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. Conchita was a faithful member of Greater Mt Zion Baptist Church, where she found fellowship, spiritual grounding, and comfort.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Jasmine Tarver, Adrian Cherry, Ebony Brown (Marlon), Janiah Glanton, Michael Smith, and Zenia Weaver; her grandchildren, Mason Brown, Adaija Sherman, and Olivia Tyus; her brothers and sister-in-law, Michael Harris (Benette) and Rishawn Readus; her sisters and brother-in-law, Crissy Lewis (Michael) and Mishonda Tarver; her nieces, Mercedes Winfrey, Dasia Harris, Shan Moore, Shachoni Readus, Jasmine Smith, Tamara Readus, Shania Readus, and; her nephews, Irving Harris, Kahlil Reviere, Christopher “MJ” Harris, DeSean Harris, Rishawn Readus Jr., Jawuan Tarver, and Rishad Readus, great nieces and nephews, Londyn Winfrey, Jaidyen Harris, Devyn Harris, Mila Dewberry and her aunt Marguerite Mariama, aunt Tammy Tarver-Bramlett (Solomon), aunt Earnestine Harris, aunt Earnestine McMullins, her uncle Thaddeus Walker, uncle Stephen Carey, her closest friends Belinda Barnes and Veronica Wright, and a host of cousins and other relatives and friends.
